Since 2008 I have handled the full maintenance of my own boats - including a Sea Ray 380 Sundancer powered by twin Caterpillar 3126 diesels. Batteries, chargers, bilge pumps, filters, anodes, 12-volt circuits, windlass, generator: I learned these systems by maintaining them, repairing them and sometimes replacing them, often far from any service yard. That hands-on experience is what I bring to owners in the region.
My role: basic diagnostics, seasonal preparation, preventive checks and teaching along the way - I show you how to monitor your own systems. For major work (internal engine repairs, injection, transmission) I refer you to the right specialists, and I can act as your technical liaison with them, in your interest.

Are you a certified marine mechanic?
No, and I am upfront about it: I offer technical assistance, basic diagnostics and guidance built on more than fifteen years of maintaining my own boats. For major mechanical work I refer you to certified specialists - and I can translate their jargon into plain language.
Do you come to my dock or marina?
Yes. Most work is done right at your dock, mooring or marina across the Gatineau, Ottawa and Thousand Islands area. Travel costs are set out in the estimate.
What does spring commissioning include?
Batteries and charging circuit, bilge pumps and alarms, filters, belts and visible fluids, anodes, antifouling condition, safety equipment and a test of onboard systems. You receive a clear list of what is fine and what needs attention.
Do you know marine diesel engines?
I have maintained two Caterpillar 3126 diesels myself for years: filtration, cooling, engine anodes, turbos, and monitoring temperatures and pressures. I also know the gasoline power packages common on recreational boats.
Can you teach me to do the maintenance myself?
That is the heart of my approach: every visit is a chance to show you what to watch, how to check it and when to be concerned. An independent owner cruises farther and sleeps better.
